All aboard! Yes, those words that give goose bumps down a train lovers arms, will soon be heard again at the Maricopa Live Steamers Adobe City Station. Located at 43rd Ave and Pinnacle Peak Road, kitty corner to the New “Wet and Wild” Water Park. Every Sunday 12:00 to 5:00pm from September to May they provide Free train rides to all rail enthusiasts. Rides are provided on 1.5” scale trains. The trains carry a maximum of 21 passengers. Engines of all sorts can be seen there from Steam to Electric and Diesel
Maricopa Live Steamers have approximately 14 miles of track spread across 160 acres. Currently there are 5 routes that the Engineers can choose from. The first is the Pottsville branch which departs from Adobe City to pass by the saw mill near Lizard Lip. Soon after crossing Dinky Ditch you arrive at Perryview Station. Next to come is Dead man’s Trestle which borders Johnrassic Park, home of creatures, whom were long thought to be extinct! Just past Mad Dog is Rattlesnake Creek which runs past Massie to Soggy Bottom at the base of Pottsville Station, Home of Sahuaro Central Museum.
Route number 2 is Arntchoo Branch which stretches out from Adobe City to the southwest extent of our park sitting at the base of Hedgepeth Hills just beyond the limits of Fort Whereami and Pardee Point.
The Third route is a remake version of the Bobber route. Last summer Bobberg had to be moved away from Pinnacle Peak by a hundred yards to facilitate new construction. From this move came Bobberg Heights, New Diehl City, Who Nose Wye joining the existing Alkire industrial complex and Fritze’s Corner.
Route number Four is called Werner which is so long they split it into two sections, East and West Werner. Departing from Adobe City we first arrive at the Werner Station located close to Linsey and Tanks Alot. The Fisher industry park funnels you to Wilson Wash Bridge and on to Geronimo. Prior to crossing the Arntchoo Branch is Race Watch where the riders of the train have the best seats in the house to watch the Formula One Go Cart races. At Arnchoo is where West Werner begins and enters Cobb Canyon along side of the 500 Club Golf Course. Little Bug, Banning, Reynolds and Osband Tank are all enroute to Rossow’s Roost the last Stop of West Werner.
Last but surely not least is Farflung! This route when finished will be the longest route available. Stretching from Adobe City to Far-flung Flats in the Northwest Quadrant of the park. The destinations are abundant, Manley Curve, Gamble, Rob’s Roundabout, Lewando’s Flugle Horn Factory, Waterwerks, Pieter Pass, Judy’s Hideaway,Tell Me Wye, Downs Rocks, Simons Bridge and Hogwash just to name a few!
So come on out on Sunday’s and ride the trains! Or better yet become a member and ride anytime! Fun for the whole family. For more information go to http://www.maricopalivesteamers.com
